Although the country is quite small, Malta has an intriguing and unique history. It is believed that the country hosted civilisations way back in the Neolithic era. It holds some of the world’s most ancient buildings such as the Neolithic temples which are surely worth a visit. Malta’s identity has been heavily influenced by those that held it at different periods in its history such as the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Crusaders, the French and finally the British, with the colonial period lasting until 1964.

There is a lot to be discovered in the rural side of Malta, with numerous villages boasting their own traits and characteristics. One exciting way to spend the Sunday morning is to visit the Marsaxlokk market. For a more serene experience, Gozo also offers several avenues for tranquillity and relaxation.
